Cozy Cottage is Paul's home in Survive and Thrive. He chose to build it because, of its basic, player friendly design.
The cottage is an eight-by-six building built mostly out of a stone-based block (Paul prefers the readily-accessible cobblestone) with a wooden frame (again, doesn't matter what though Paul prefers Birch while the original design calls for Spruce). Underneath is a three block high basement containing Paul's bed, a few chests, an ender chest, a painting, a wooden floor, and a convenient entrance into his murderhole system. Speaking of the muderholes, the traps are located around a perimeter wall built of brick, wooden fencing, and wood planks linked with a small tunnel system. The roof is built entirely out of oak plank-based stairs (with a few stone slabs thrown in on the far sides) and conceals a small attic. (Note: When first concieved, the only possible wooden planks were all oak. Now, the planks can be oak, spruce, birch, and jungle, allowing more possibilities and designs).
Originally containing only the basic furnace, crafting bench, chests, and bed, Paul added decorations after his ravine adventure. To date, he now has a flower pot (originally a trapdoor dirt thing, this was eventually replaced by an actual pot), a few paintings, a sofa (two stars with signs acting as armrests), the perimeter defense system, a dock, a boathouse, a patio with a chair and jukebox, and a "fun path" (really a trap he built after the mob AI improved so they would advoid pits in the ground. Basically, the fun path is a semi-mossy cobblestone structure outfitted with arrow-loaded dispensers and tripwires).
